Synopsis: Bipolar Shanghai Canadian Carmen Lu is involuntarily committed to psychiatric care when she reports a violent sexual assault to hospital staff. Grappling with trauma, psychosis, and changes to her medication, she pieces together her memories of a love affair that began like a fairy tale before devolving into a nightmare of psychological and physical abuse. To heal, she must overcome her fear and anger to gain a clear-eyed understanding of what went wrong, and learn to forgive herself and her attacker.
